Prachanda

Co-Chairman : Prachanda - Prime Minister of Nepal

Prachanda, born on 11 December 1954, (Native name Pushpa Kmai Dahal), is a Nepali Politician and revolutionary who believes in Maoism. He was the Chairman of the Nepal Communist Party, the first major political party in Nepal, and was elected as the First Prime Minister of the Federal Democratic Republic of Nepal on 15 August 2008. He was re-elected as Prime Minister of the Federal Democratic Republic of Nepal on 3 August 2016.

On 24th August 2008, Prachanda visited China to attend the closing ceremony of the Beijing Olympic Games. Chinese President Hu Jintao met with Prachanda at Diaoyutai State Guesthouse(the photo below).

This visit was Prachanda's first overseas visit as the Prime Minister of Nepal. The visit marked a sharp departure from the tradition of visiting India first, a tradition followed by many previous Nepalese Prime Ministers.
