Dr. Ramzi Sanbar

Dr. Ramzi Sanbar, a graduate in civil engineering from the American University of Beirut, received a doctorate from Paris IV University in environmental related issues and was awarded a Doctor at Law by Gonzaga University, U.S.A. Dr. Ramzi Sanbar is founder of the London based Sanbar Development Corporation (SDC) and has led many successful international projects in his career.

Dr. Sanbar is the founder of SDC, which was established in 1968. He guided the Corporation to become a pioneer regarding the project development. SDR’s core business lies in international project development, engineering, construction, and management. SDR took the lead in bringing in the concept of project finance and completed many key projects including hotels, steel mills, ports, urbane construction, and telecommunication in the United States, Europe, the Middle East, and Africa. Famous projects include the Dag Hammarskjold building in Manhattan, USA, Ciragan Palace in Istanbul, Technopolis du Leman Business Center in Geneva, Switzerland, El Pueblo Resort in Spain, Minorca Steel Plant in Venezuela, Khartoum Port Pipeline Deployment Project in Sudan, the strategic research on the storage of petro products, the initial planning and management of the improvement of the urban construction and beautification of the holy city Mecca, and the management of the first automatic telephone project in Saudi Arabia.

Dr. Sanbar has visited China hundreds of times since 1982, and has a strong attachment to China in his heart. He has a profound understanding of Chinese traditional culture and China’s economic development.

Dr. Sanbar is also involved in cultural studies and social work. He supports international economic and cultural exchange. He has served as Supervisor or Board Director at the Center for Middle Eastern Studies, Harvard University, Lebanese American University, Eurasia Center, Cambridge University, and many non-profit organizations.
