APECF contributes to Macau International Movie Festival's success, hopes to open new chapter in Asian movies

The launching ceremony of the Sixth Macau International Movie Festival, hosted by The Movie-Television-Media Association of Macau and co-sponsored by the Asia Pacific Exchange & Cooperation Foundation, was held on December 29, 2014. Celebrities from the mainland, Taiwan and Hong Kong and people from all walks of life nationwide and overseas attended the event. The award ceremony was held at Wynn Macau Hotel on December 30.
On the opening day, movie stars gathered in Macau and attended the red carpet show, including Mr. Zhang Huijun, President of the Beijing Film Academy, Ms. Hu Mei, Vice Chairman of the China Television Artists Association, Mr. Han Sheng, President of the Shanghai Theatre Academy, Mr. Yang Buting, Chairman of the China Film Distribution and Exhibition Association, Mr. Zhang Yimou, a famous Chinese movie director, Mr. You Xiaogang, a famous Chinese TV director, international action superstar Jean-Claude Van Damme, Hong Kong movie stars Ren Dahua and Lui Ray, Mr. Chen Baoguo, a prominent artist, Ms. Zhou Tao, a famous television anchor, and famous young actresses Cai Zhuoyan, Yuan Shanshan, Zhang Huiwen.
The Asia Pacific Exchange & Cooperation Foundation is a non-profit organization founded by political dignitaries, scholars, social activists, internationally influential entrepreneurs, and researchers in the Asia-Pacific region. Since its establishment, APECF, which is dedicated to open dialogue and consultation, has engaged in extensive and constructive communication and cooperation with many governments, non-governmental organizations and U.N. bodies in the region. It has become an influential international organization in the Asia Pacific region and worldwide.
In recent years, APECF held several film activities including June 29, 2013, the Asia Pacific Exchange & Cooperation Foundation, UN Radio and Television Service, Phoenix Satellite TV, China News Service and other institutions co-organized the "UN and China: A Cinematic Journey", which was held at the lecture hall of Renmin University. UN USG Mr. Peter Launsky-Tieffenthal, China Film Foundation Chairman Mr. Li Qiankuan attended this event, which was praised by the United Nations as one of the most successful cultural activities in its history. On July 20, 2015, on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and France, the Cannes municipal government, Anji County in Zhejiang and Asia Pacific Exchange & Cooperation Foundation officially signed an MOU on Cannes (China) film city. Through bilateral cooperation, this project aims to introduce Cannes Film Festival's more than 60-year history to Anji, Zhejiang to build a French cultural town, which blends film and TV, culture and tourism into a wealth of features. On October 26, 2014, APECF Executive Vice Chairman Xiao Wunan led a delegation at the invitation of Antalya Mayor Turel to attend the 51st International Antalya Golden Orange Film Festival, and had in-depth exchanges on promoting cultural and film cooperation between China and Turkey. The International Antalya Golden Orange Film Festival has the longest history of any film festival not only in Turkey but also in Europe and Asia.
2015 marks the 70th founding anniversary of the United Nations as well as the 70th anniversary of the anti-Fascist War. The Asia Pacific Exchange & Cooperation Foundation is a window for promoting China's "public diplomacy". It has signed an MOU on cultural exchanges-"2015 celebrations to mark the 70th founding anniversary of the United Nations and the anti-Fascist War"-with the United Nations, aiming to bilaterally communicate the United Nations' history and contribution to peacekeeping, women's rights, humanities, science and technology in the form of art and culture. Through holding cultural and art performances and exhibitions, APECF hopes Asian people can have a deeper understanding of the United Nations. We will hold relevant cultural exchanges at the United Nations to promote Asian politics, economy, culture and art throughout the world, including a number of film-related activities.
