Goran Persson, former Prime Minister of Sweden, led a trade delegation to visit China from January 14 to 17, 2014 at the invitation of the Chinese People's Institute of Foreign Affairs and the Asia Pacific Exchange & Cooperation Foundation.
The delegation called on the Ministry of Science and Technology, the Ministry of Environmental Protection, the Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development, the China Center for International Economic Exchanges, among others. They exchanged views on energy conservation and emission reduction, green economy, trade and investment between Sweden and China, achieving fruitful results.
Zeng Peiyan, a former vice premier and member of the Communist Party's Political Bureau, met Mr. Persson and his delegation at the Wucheng Hall inside the Zhongnanhai leadership compound on January 14. They had a constructive conversation regarding bilateral relations, macroeconomics, the global
economic situation and Europe's future economic status.
In the evening, Swedish Ambassador to China Lars Freden hosted dinner in honor of for Mr. Persson at his residence. More than 50 Chinese and foreign guests from the Communist Party's International Department, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Finance, the China Center for International Economic Exchanges, and the Asia Pacific Exchange & Cooperation Foundation, attended the dinner.
On January 16, Mr Persson was interviewed by Hong Kong cable network Phoenix on issues ranging from bilateral relations and future cooperation in areas including economic, trade, cultural, science and technology.
