The Welcoming Dinner for Mr. Jacques Rougerie, the Member of Institut de France
was held in Beijing

In the evening of July 20, 2013, the welcoming dinner for Mr. Jacques Rougerie, the Member of Institut de France with his keynote speech “Ocean and the future of the world”, was held by Asia Pacific Exchange and Cooperation Foundation at Yishu 8 located at Dong Huangchenggen Bei Jie. The theme of this activity is to further the people-to-people exchange and cooperation between China and France, so as to meet the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and France next year.

Mr. Xiao Wunan, Executive Vice Chairman of Asia Pacific Exchange and Cooperation Foundation, quoted a passage from Dzongsar Khyentse Rinpoche, the world-recognized master and director, as the prologue:  Chinese people are very practical, over thousands of years of civilization, we abandon Taoism and Buddhism, and give preference to Confucianism. But Confucianism may gain benefit immediately, Taoism and Buddhism will hug a far future.  Mr. Xiao believes that the practical spirit is the reason why Chinese culture, especially since Song Dynasty, lost its creativity, science and artistic vitality. Today, confronted with reviving Chinese culture and realizing Chinese dreams, we should regain the spirit of Utopia, and it is also the purpose of inviting Mr. Jacques Rougerie, the famous water construction designer to come to Beijing. Then Mr. Jacques Rougerie delivered the keynote speech, and introduced to guests the SeaOrbiter program, that he has been engaging in and participating for long time in detail.

During the activity, Mr. Xiao issued the letter of appointment “Vice Chairman of Asia Pacific Exchange and Cooperation Foundation” to Mr. Jacques Rougerie and Mr. Jacques Rougerie also presented Mr. Xiao the title of “Board Member and Honor Ambassador of the Jacques Rougerie Foundation” so as to meet the new chapter of deepening the exchanges and strengthening the cooperation in various fields between the institutions.

During the dinner, Zhao Xiaoxia, Chinese Guqin artist, played the track Mountain Torrent. Ri Wong Shiman, a famous Tibetan Singer, sang two Tibetan original songs.
