Colin Heseltine, former Executive Director of the APEC Secretariat visits APECF
On Feb 23, 2011, Mr. Colin Heseltine, former Executive Director of the APEC, his wife Mrs. Heseltine, and other seven delegates visited Beijing upon the invitation of the APECF.
Colin Heseltine, a senior Australian diplomat, once served as Australian Vice Ambassador to China, South Korea, Singapore, and other nations. He has a deep friendship with the Chinese people.
During their visit to Beijing, Mr. Gao Qing, Secretary-General of APECF, and Ms. Ge Chen, Deputy Secretary-General, made a detailed introduction of the APECF Beijing Secretariat before holding a reception banquet in honor of the delegation. Mr. Xiao Wunan received Mr. Colin at the VIP Lounge of Dayuan Hotel and both sides had extensive and constructive exchanges about the future development of APECF. The Beijing Secretariat of APECF also made an arrangement for the delegation to visit the Forbidden City, National Centre for the Performing Arts, and other well-known historical and cultural sites.
Mr. Colin accepted the appointment as Co-Chairman of APECF with pleasure, expressing his hope to continue to play an active role in promoting the stability, prosperity and development of the Asia Pacific region.
