Tribute to the Centenary of Academician Tsung-Dao Lee: "Art and Science" Forum
Held in Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area

The 2025 Greater Bay Area "Art and Science" Forum and Series of Activities Commemorating the 100th Anniversary of Academician Tsung-Dao Lee's Birth were successfully held in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area on November 22.

The event comprised three core segments: the Cultural Inheritance Forum, Digital Wealth Forum, and Charity Auction Gala. Through cross-disciplinary dialogues, intangible cultural heritage (ICH) performances, and public welfare initiatives, it deeply advanced the symbiotic concept of "Art and Science", injecting new impetus into building a humanities-focused Greater Bay Area.

Cultural Inheritance Forum: Launching Cross-Disciplinary Dialogues

The forum opened with a solemn inauguration. Mr. Xiao Wunan, Vice Chairman of the China Association of Social Economic and Cultural Exchange and Chairman of the Diplomat ICH Ceremony Organizing Committee, was invited to address the gathering, emphasizing the Greater Bay Area's mission in driving the creative transformation and innovative development of fine traditional Chinese culture.

Dr. Li Daxi, Chairman of the Chinese Association for Science and Business, delivered a keynote speech titled “Science, Art and Innovation.” He noted that art sparks passion and creativity, while the rigor and wisdom of science can enrich and elevate art. Their integration fuels the prosperity of science, art, and broader social culture.

Dr. Chen Linyao, an artist, university lecturer, and inheritor of Jingdezhen blue & white porcelain ICH, shared cases of co-creation between ICH artists and robots through the integration of ceramic craftsmanship and modern technology, demonstrating the contemporary innovative value of traditional techniques.

Mr. Hu Chansam, President of the Hong Kong Institute of Architectural Conservationists, shared unique practices of cross-disciplinary integration in his presentation “Contemporary Art, Culture and Scientific Development in Hong Kong.”

Against the backdrop of the 15th Five-Year Plan's technology empowerment, a roundtable forum explored three key topics: addressing pain points and building sustainable models for integrating technology with cultural heritage, collaborative cultivation of "Art and Science" inter-disciplinary talents by universities, governments, and enterprises in the Greater Bay Area, and promoting cultural industry connectivity across the three regions of the humanities-oriented Greater Bay Area through art-science integration. Participants engaged in in-depth exchanges, generating diverse insights and shared consensus.

During the forum, the "Greater Bay Area International Short Drama Industry Base" was launched to drive deep integration of content creation and digital technology, supporting innovative development of the cultural industry.

Digital Wealth Forum: Focusing on Civilization Capitalization

Subsequently, the Digital Wealth Forum, themed "Digital Cultural Models and Civilization Capitalization", gathered experts from cultural, technological, and financial sectors for discussions.

Mr. Chen Ping, Chairman of Sun TV, delivered a speech titled “Myself and Sun TV,” sharing the media's exploration and practice in integrating cultural communication with technology.

Ms. Xie Bin, Executive Director of Sun TV and a digital culture expert, gave a presentation titled “Digital Cultural Models: Art Stories and Civilization Capitalization in the AI Era.” From "Stories Behind National Treasures" to "Digital Cultural Models", she explored diversified expressions of civilization, redefined the boundaries between art and technology, and proposed that every cultural relic and story can serve as training corpus for the future.

Mr. Tan Jiefu, a national expert in big data and computing power and President of the Shenzhen Association for the Promotion of Science, Technology and Cultural Innovation Industries, systematically elaborated on the supporting role of AI computing power in cultural innovation.

The roundtable forum heatedly debated three core topics: the transformation of non-standard artworks into digital assets empowered by technology and the Greater Bay Area's pioneering advantages, virtual-real consumption scenarios and profit models of integrating cultural and creative IPs with technology in the Greater Bay Area, and practical recommendations for promoting regional art digital asset circulation from policy, enterprise, and legal perspectives. Participants unanimously agreed that digitizing cultural resources is a key strategy for civilizational inheritance.

The forum concluded with the official launch of the "2026 Global Chinese Spring Festival Gala", which will deeply integrate technology and art to create a high-profile cultural event with international vision and profound cultural heritage.

Charity Auction: Highlighting Public Welfare Spirit

The Charity Gala commemorating Academician Tsung-Dao Lee's centenary, held that evening, brought the event to a climax. The gala opened with an energetic lion dance performance. Mr. Fan Zongming, representative of the organizer, Ms. Li Zhicheng, a guest from Macao, and Mr. Cai Teng, President of the World Peace Promotion Association, delivered speeches successively. On behalf of the organizer, Ms. Huang Li issued a joint initiative, calling on all sectors to collaborate in promoting the coordinated development of art and science and youth public welfare.

The gala unfolded in an orderly manner under the format of "one round of performances + one round of auctions". The ICH program“A Lamp Through a Millennium” was staged with great splendor, where the Fuyun Jian Team and Rumen Xincha joined forces to revive the ancient charm of tea-brewing traditions from the Tang Dynasty. The Indigenous American piece “The Song of the Eagle” and the Chinese dongxiao (vertical bamboo flute) performance “Listening to Rain at Mid-Hill” complemented each other beautifully. Children's vocal performances, a fashion show featuring Xiangyunsha (a prized traditional Chinese gambiered silk textile), and the rendition of “Jiu Ge” (Wine Song) on the matouqin (Mongolian horse-head fiddle) took turns captivating the audience, fully embodying the profound essence of cultural exchange and mutual learning among civilizations. The three rounds of charity auctions received an enthusiastic response, and all proceeds will be earmarked for dedicated initiatives in youth science education, ICH preservation, and cultural dissemination.

This event was hosted by the China International Culture and Art Exchange Promotion Association, co-organized by Sun TV (Hong Kong) and Sun Success Co., Ltd., and supported by the Shenzhen Association for the Promotion of Science, Technology and Cultural Innovation Industries, Regal Hotels International, Jinghan Media, Hong Kong Tung Yao Ceramics Co., Ltd., Saifeng Art, Chenghetang Calligraphy, Painting and Carving Art Studio, Tianjin G-ka Robot Technology Co., Ltd., G-ka Cinematic Motion Control System, and other entities. Through high-end dialogues, industrial cooperation, and public welfare practices, the forum successfully built an innovative platform for the integrated development of art and science, contributing wisdom and strength to building the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area into a globally influential humanities hub.
